I Am Jewish
In this fun and interactive presentation for K-Grade 6 students, we’ll talk about what it means to be Jewish. We’ll use the book I Am Jewish to explore the religion, history and culture and share some of our celebrations and traditions. The discussion will centre around my personal experiences and the research I did while writing the book. Mighty Scared
While people might run or scream, animals have amazing ways of protecting themselves when they’re afraid. Fulmar birds vomit, Texas horned lizards shoot blood from their eyes and hagfish slime their enemies. Every day in countries around the world, people waste a lot of food. In fact, we waste enough food to feed 3 billion people when at least 900 million are hungry. Reducing food waste is actually one of the biggest things we can do to help the planet while also getting food to people who need it. In this interactive presentation, we’ll talk about why food waste is a problem, how it happens, and what we can do in our own homes to prevent it.

What Kids Did
In this interactive presentation perfect for families and kids in grades 1-5, we’ll talk about my picture book, What Kids Did: Stories of Kindness and Invention in the Time of COVID-19. We’ll see how kids around the world made a difference at a time when even adults were scared. Proud To Play
This is a powerful presentation about the experience of professional LGBTQ+ athletes in Canadian sports. By looking at the stories in my book, Proud to Play: Canadian LGBTQ+ athletes who made history,tml we’ll see how homophobia in professional sports has changed over time, how it varies from sport to sport, and how we’re doing now. I answer questions from the audience and also read from the book. This is perfect for Pride Month and any in-class discussions about inclusion and diversity. I’ve also offered this as a panel presentation featuring athletes from the book.

Writing nonfiction can be a challenge, but I make it fun and easy in this presentation about writing nonfiction.
